Leadership Awards
CSAE has developed and maintained stringent criteria to recognize excellence in the association sector through its leadership awards. Due to the prestigious nature of the awards they are not always bestowed each year.


Pinnacle Award
Given in recognition of exemplary leadership, this honour reflects outstanding achievements in both the professional and personal lives of not-for-profit executives. Recipients of this award are selected for outstanding leadership within their own association, their commitment to voluntary organization and their contribution to CSAE. The exemplary leaders have achieved prominence due to the credit they bring to association management and the not-for-profit community.

    The Honoured Life Member Award
    This award recognizes a member who has demonstrated a sustained commitment to the Canadian Society of Association Executives for a period of at least ten years. The CSAE Board of Directors grants this award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Society.

    Only two percent of the total voting membership of the Society may be so honoured. The award has only been presented on 21 occasions and is not granted every year.

      The recipient of this award will be selected for a demonstrated outstanding contribution to the Canadian Society of Association Executives on a national basis for a minimum of 10 years, and/or for their contribution to a local chapter for 10 years based on a demonstrated and effective involvement at that level. The 10 years of contribution can be a combination of service at both levels.
        Members to whom this award is granted will have achieved prominence due to their sustained commitment to the Society.

          Griner Award

            Donna Mary Shaw Award
            The Donna Mary Shaw Award, initiated as an endowment through the CSAE Foundation in 1996, encourages deserving individuals to pursue careers in a not-for-profit organization or business that serves the sector. Recipients receive a one-year complimentary CSAE membership and access to one CAE course.

            CSAE Chapter-of-the-Year Award
            This award recognizes the Chapter which has demonstrated effective operational practices in keeping with the Chapter Operational Standards.

            There are twelve operational areas, corresponding to the sections in the Chapter Operational Standards (approved by the CSAE Board in January 2009). Where applicable, describe actions or outcomes to support your assessment.

            Associations Make a Better Canada Award
            Introduced in 2005, this award recognizes CSAE member organizations that have initiated innovative projects resulting in positive outcomes in the areas of public education/information, public affairs/government relations, professional development and education, and ethical, technical or professional standards.
